Alma Lee (Martin) Wilcox

Alma Lee Wilcox passed away peacefully on March 26, 2024, leaving us with a treasure trove of memories and a whole lot of love. She was born to Emanuel James Martin and Adell Alice Martin and grew up with her siblings, Rebecca Holmes, James Martin, and Easter Wright. Their home was busy and filled with hard work. The Alma we all knew and loved was a caring and compassionate person.

Life threw many hard curveballs at Alma, but she faced them all with a strength that many don’t possess, and a heart full of love for her family and friends. She cherished her parents, who have passed on, along with her husband, David Jones, along with her sister, Rebecca Holmes, and step-daughter, Janice Jones as well as, niece, Linda Martin. Their memories and her memories are now together etched in our hearts.

Alma leaves behind a legacy of love through her daughters, Alice Tipton and Annie Hurley, and stepsons, James Jones and Gerald Jones; her brother, James Martin, sister, Easter Wright; nieces Ann Jones, Michelle Holmes, Michelle Hurley, Robbie Martin, Bobbie Martin, Liz Martin, Cynthia Berrian and Samantha Berrian; nephews Jerry Holmes, Robert Bryan, Eric Bryan, John Paul Bryan and James Paul Hurley;  grandchildren, Jessie Jones, James Jones Jr., Josh Jones, Ashley Hurley, Charlie Tipton, Allison Tipton, Ryan Rogers, and William Hurley; and a host of  great-grandchildren.

Alma was a jack-of-all-trades kind of gal. She had a knack for gardening, making her surroundings burst with life and color. She enjoyed spending her time researching ancestry and genealogy, making sure her family's history wasn't forgotten. Crafting and making jewelry were also some of her favorite hobbies, and let's not forget her adventures with her best friend, Marie, at the antique shop, where beautiful memories were made. She also loved working tirelessly alongside her loving husband, David Jones where they built a good life together.

Friends are invited to celebrate Alma’s life at a visitation on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 beginning at 2:00 p.m., followed by a service at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home located at 1474 Highway 83 North, DeFuniak Springs.  Committal services will follow at Red Bay Cemetery.
