Bernard Dominick Obituary

Bernard Vincent Dominick “Doc” died peacefully at the age of 75 at his sister and brother-in-law’s home in Destin, Florida on Saturday, March 23, 2024, after a long battle with complications from multiple medical conditions.

Bernie was born on October 20, 1948 to Richard Dominick and Dorothy Dominick (Golinski) in Detroit, Michigan. Bernie was married to Mary McGlen (deceased) in 1995 at their home in Oswego, New York. Mary was the love of Bernie’s life; therefore, after losing Mary in June of 2023, Bernie lost his will to continue fighting the multiple medical problems that besieged him.

Bernie graduated from Catholic Central High School in Detroit in 1966. He went on to take classes at Wayne State University and graduated with a degree in drafting. He spent his career working at the nuclear power plants in Oswego. Bernie had many interests, including motorcycles, golfing, duck hunting with his beloved dogs, the Red Wings and University of Michigan football. Bernie never had children of his own, but he loved Mary’s grandchildren and great grandchildren as if they were his own; he loved spending time with them and especially sharing his passion for motorcycles with them.

People who knew Bernie considered him a “legend”, a “one of a kind”, a “dear friend”, a “good man”, a “special person”, a “tender heart with a great personality”, and a “great guy”, but most people will remember him by his wicked sense of humor. Even in dying, when he fell to the floor and he was asked what he was doing on the floor, he responded by saying, “I am holding the floor down".

Bernie is survived by his sister, Deborah Dominick (Glenn Plaisance); stepchildren, Kenneth Goia (Tracy), and Susan Munson (Kenneth Munson); grandchildren, Anthony Goia, Hanna (Jay) Lugo, Christian Goia, Garret Munson, and Alexis Gage; great grandchildren, Jeremiah Lugo and Emery Gioia; as well as, cousins and a multitude of friends.

Bernie was proceeded in death by his loving wife, Mary, and Mary’s son, Glen Goia.

A celebration of life will be held on May 18, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary in Hannibal, New York, with graveside services at the Hannibal cemetery.  A reception will follow at the Village Tavern in Hannibal.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society.
