Mary Lee Obituary

Mary Margaret Ann Lee, age 78, passed away on April, 9 2024. She was born in Walton County, Florida on April 29, 1945, to Frank Wingate and Lucille Hydle. Mary loved life, her family, and everyone she met. Her smile and laughter were contagious. Mary had a true mother’s heart. She believed everyone deserved love and showed people she loved them, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grands. Mary had a love for many things, such as singing, fishing, bingo, and writing; these were a few of her passions. Mary was a perfect mixture of passion for life and selflessness. She was the epitome of unconditional love. She was someone you could not forget once you met her. Mary was so full of life, love, and wisdom. She told the best stories and gave the best advice. She had all kinds of remedies to heal what ailed you with the knowledge gained from having a half dozen children, as well as from what a lifetime of experiences can give you. Animals and children were drawn to her and there was always one near or in her lap, in which she could be heard singing, humming, or rocking them, usually to sleep. Mary had the voice of an angel, basically an undiscovered country singer, especially with the song “Mountain of Love”. Not everything about Mary was wonderful and what will not be missed is her ability to out-fish anyone, even if fishing in the same spot. It seems her secret of spitting snuff on her bait or in the water only worked for her. Mary spent most of her life in Walton and Washington Counties. Due to “COVID”, the last three years of her life she lived in Blakely, Georgia with her daughter, Janie.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first born precious baby boy, Richard Eugene, who died a day before his first birthday; her husband, Clinton Adam Lee; sisters, Frankie Dowling and Linda Gail Rushing; and two great grandchildren, Liam and “no no” Noah.

Mary leaves behind her daughter, Sandra Sherman (Earl) of Florence, Alabama; daughter, Amy Davis of Caryville, Florida; son, Rusty Bourkard (Gina) of Vernon, Florida; son, Eddie Bourkard (Amy) of Vernon, Florida; daughter, Mary Jane Felch (John) of Blakely, Georgia; step daughter, Gwendol and son, Junior of Ponce de Leon, Florida; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, as well as many children, whom she claimed and mothered throughout the years.

Mary was known to have made a vow to show or tell her family and friends how important and loved they were. She especially showed this by giving great nick names like Tootsie Roll, Crisco Kid, Sport, Chatter Box, Rosie Posie, Ambertree, Gook, Bubble Butt, Eddie Bug, Mullet, Bimbo, Bunny, and Pooter Bill. - Thank you, Momma.

Job well done. Take your rest.
